Just a little vent.......

Why is it people feel they have the right to comment on the number of kids you have? I mean really, how rude, I would never dream of saying something to anybody about how many kids they chose to have. I ran into a high school friend yesterday at Wal-Mart and after asking me if Dev & B were mine she exclaimed " Do you ever plan on stopping?" and laughed. Then my oldest daughter piped up with "I know, really, 4 kids!" in that sassy teenager tone. Now I know the comment was meant in jest but I'm sensitive and it rubbed me the wrong way. They are MY children and it was MY personal choice to have them. Nobody is footin the bill, nobody else is raising them, caring for them, responsible for them etc. What is so wrong about having 4 kids? I LOVE being a mother, always have, and despite the road not always being a smooth one I love all of my kids very much and each one is a blessing to me. And to be completely honest, if B was perfectly healthy we would probably have another!

And btw, Miss Dany got an earful from me to say the least.

haha...I laugh because I have said the same thing(not to someone's face). Not because I think someone can't take care of four kids emotionally or monetarily. It's more me putting myself in those shoes and wondering if I could even do it. Normally when someone says something like that it's not to be totally rude, it's joking and probably not intended to hurt in any way. Sorry your feelings were hurt.

When it is done out of rudeness..it's totally uncalled for! I would have to say the whole: "Do you ever plan on stopping?" was done out of rudeness. Your daughter is juat "at that age" where no matter what you do it's not cool. In about 10 years, she'll be bragging about you.."My mom raised four kids and we are all amazing and well-rounded. She's my hero!"

Yeah "do you ever plan on stopping" was meant to be a dig-just disguised with a laugh.I've heard comments infering I'm old and why have kids now and frankly those people are ignorant.I guess society assumes if you are young and have kids wether it was by accident, and regardless of what type of life you can provide for them, and regardless if you have them at babysitters all the time while your partying that's ok-I think not!

People will always be ignorant about things. Kids seem to be the ones that get the most comments though. I get "Oh, HE must have been an accident" and knowing looks about Matthew all the time, because Anthony is so much older. I quit being nice about it after awhile. You can only take so much before it makes you snap. I'd have told her that until her tax dollars are paying for me to have kids it's none of her damn business if I never stop.

I would have said something like "do you plan on stopping being such a dumbass?".

Ok, maybe I wouldn't have, but I would have liked to!
